The first phase of the Monroe Hall chemistry laboratories was completed in the spring of 1998. The space is designed to encourage chemistry students in a modern atmosphere and to showcases the centrality of science in a liberal arts education and its importance to society. The space includes a shared W.M. Keck Instrumentation and Computing (KIC) lab with over $250,000 of equipment and two new teaching labs. The chemistry wing was dedicated in fall 1999 in honor of Dr. Gregory Choppin, a 1949 chemistry graduate. The second phase of the Monroe chemistry laboratory began in December 2007 and was completed in September 2008. The renovated space includes new teaching laboratories, a state-of-the-art lecture hall, and departmental offices. Stay tuned for pictures of this great new space!
